Was in Campo dei Fiori where there are all kinds of people doing their thing including this guy who was just being Italian with his shades and his acqua con limone. I took the shot because he epitomized “the Italian” just sitting there.

I have an archive of photos from over 20 years of traveling and I’ve always tended to shoot daily life to see the normal things as more than ordinary. This is one of my favorites and the shots from Italy in black and white are always cool.
When the Italian cops really need to catch up to you rolling down the autostrada, they just whip out the Lamborghini. This car was on display in the Piazza del Popolo in Rome and it was the star attraction of the day.
Trying something new here today. Had this old photo I shot in Rome in the mid nineties that I thought I’d run through Instagram before posting it here to see how’d it fit in. This was a funny scene that just sort of happened in split second. This was shot in Piazza Navona in Rome in early evening where the was a photo shoot of the model on the left. Out of the blue comes in this drunk guy with bottle in hand and he decides to get in the act with the model. Loved his expression and italian gesture with his arm. He was having a great time crashing the photo shoot.
I hopped on the back of my good Roman friend’s Scooter and we took off from his office across town for a late afternoon apertivo at Bar Rosati. This trip takes you from Via delle Quattro Fontane over to Piazza del Popolo with a bit of Largo Chigi and the Tiber in between. I thought it’d be cool to shoot a photo every so many minutes along the short ride.
Took a morning stroll through the market of Campo dei Fiori in Rome. The scene is great for coffee, cornetti, and fresh ingredients. There are other localized markets in the city but this one is on a path so many walk down. When the market is over late morning the piazza goes quiet until evening when a restaurant & bar scene comes to life.
Every time I’m in Rome I try to make it to Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, especially as sundown when this piazza turns from stone beige to gold and blue. It’s a great area for an apertivo followed by dinner in the neighborhood.
