Was in New York City in the meatpacking district recently and pointed my camera at this guy to take the shot – he decided to ham it up for the lens. His buddy not so much….
Yesterday was a Motorino across Rome and today had this on my mind in the same theme in NYC. I couldn’t snag a taxi during a particularly busy time and I had to get down toward the Meatpacking district so I hopped on the back of this guy’s rickshaw and we weaved through the traffic. He was a journalist from the Basque country and working as a rickshaw for extra cash.
Made it to the art-deco Atlas statue in NYC at Rockefeller Center just before twilight to snap this shot with the blue sky, chromed bronze, and orange backlight. I’m a big fan of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged and of course the image of Atlas on the cover of that book is hard not to think of when standing in this spot in New York City. Sales of this masterpiece refuse to slow down decades after it was printed.
Grand Central Station is such an iconic building with the night sky ceiling and the architecture right out of an Ayn Rand novel. The activity there is great as you can see people going in all sorts of directions, it’s like math in motion. Also love the person exactly at the top of the far stairs with the light behind them.
