Midtown Atlanta Skyline

Atlanta is coming into it’s own.  It’s long been the capital of the South, but there is a transformation going on in Atlanta that has been in the works for 20 years but seems to have picked up steam in the past 1-2 years for some reason.  It’s turning into a city with city-like access and urban life.  Midtown is leading it.

Roy Ayers Funks Atlanta

Went down to the Atlanta Jazz Festival to check out the one and only Roy Ayers funk the park.  This is one of the grooviest guys out there today and he’s been holding it down for decades.  Check the link for a live track to one of his classics.

Always heard the Flaming Lips put on an over the top type of show so I went down with a few friends to Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park to check it out over the weekend.  Here are some shots from that show.

Incognito Gig Atlanta 2012

Went to see the one and only Incognito in Atlanta on April 7th.  This is hands down one of the best performing bands in the world today led since something like 30 years by Bluey.  If you know Incognito’s style then you’re already in tune with great music  - if you don’t know Incognito you should check them out.  Killer grooves, lush vocals and harmonies, great horn section, and this line up featured a 21 year old percussion player from Portugal and new drummer from Rome, Italy who were both incredible.  For a taste of their sound click here.

Atlanta Early Morning

Seventeen Coffees in Seven Cities

I love finding good espresso on the road (and at home).  I started shooting these illy moments out of thin air while sitting there sipping a coffee and it became a sort of subject matter for me.  The espressamente illy bars are always a welcome sight (especially in airports) and the chrome and the red make for great images.  This slideshow has shots from Dubai, Shanghai, Italy, Spain, France, Greece, and USA.

Alex Lifeson of Rush

Just another shot I popped of Rush from the Atlanta Time Machine Tour.  This band gets better with time – the level of skill on that stage is off the chart.  Love the color of that guitar too….
