Incognito Gig Atlanta 2012

Went to see the one and only Incognito in Atlanta on April 7th.  This is hands down one of the best performing bands in the world today led since something like 30 years by Bluey.  If you know Incognito’s style then you’re already in tune with great music  - if you don’t know Incognito you should check them out.  Killer grooves, lush vocals and harmonies, great horn section, and this line up featured a 21 year old percussion player from Portugal and new drummer from Rome, Italy who were both incredible.  For a taste of their sound click here.

Milan Street Art

There’s graffiti, there’s street art, and then there’s your random framed fresco on some random street in Milan.  There are surprises like this through Italy.

Window Washers on Shanghai World Financial Center

Was on the upper deck of the Shanghai World Financial Center checking out the view when these two guys came hoisting up the side of the building.  For scope this is a 101 story building with 91 elevators.  That’s the Jin Mao tower behind them.  Click the photo for larger view.

Atlanta Early Morning

I live in Atlanta so I almost never take photos here.  I decided to change that on a pre-sunrise trip to the airport yesterday.  I stopped to snap a series of shots between 6am and 7:30am just as the sun was coming up.  This is one of those shots of Atlanta.

Seventeen Coffees in Seven Cities

I love finding good espresso on the road (and at home).  I started shooting these illy moments out of thin air while sitting there sipping a coffee and it became a sort of subject matter for me.  The espressamente illy bars are always a welcome sight (especially in airports) and the chrome and the red make for great images.  This slideshow has shots from Dubai, Shanghai, Italy, Spain, France, Greece, and USA.

Delhi Street Vendor

Popped this shot walking around a local market in New Delhi.  Didn’t realize until long after I took the shot that the guy was looking directly into my lens.

The Model and the Drunk

Trying something new here today.  Had this old photo I shot in Rome in the mid nineties that I thought I’d run through Instagram before posting it here to see how’d it fit in.  This was a funny scene that just sort of happened in split second.  This was shot in Piazza Navona in Rome in early evening where the was a photo shoot of the model on the left.  Out of the blue comes in this drunk guy with bottle in hand and he decides to get in the act with the model.  Loved his expression and italian gesture with his arm.  He was having a great time crashing the photo shoot.

Concert Under the Acropolis

Was in Athens with my wife and as we were walking to find a place to eat one evening in the Roman Agora we stumbled on to an outdoor concert under the Acropolis and moon.  Greece has it’s issues but this is something they do well.

Alberobello 1993

I’m reaching into the archives for this one but it’s a shot of one of the oddest places I think I’ve ever been.  This place is called Alberobello and it in the heel of Italy (Puglia).  You’re looking at the typical houses of the region called Trulli.  You half expect Smurfs to walk out any minute when you’re there.  The food in the Puglia region is some of the best in Italy – very different than what you generally think of when it comes to food.  Here it’s much more Greek-like and even touches of Middle Eastern food.  Most Americans never visit this part of Italy but Puglia is a gem of a region in which to spend travel and culinary time.  Click the link in the text for a map of where this is and click the image for more detail.
